Brief History & background of our members |
| • Experience is all we need |
 |
It gives me great pleasure to give you a brief background of Kayti. After studying a BSC at university, I was disillusioned by the building industry at the time. I, K Hari, then established Kayti Wholesalers in the new South Africa in 1994. A few years later, just as I embarked into the exciting opportunities offered by embroidery, I like so many South Africans today, was affected by crime. In 1999 during an armed robbery, I was shot in the back and was left paralyzed and permanently wheelchair bound.
Neither my spirit nor my enthusiasm was dampened after a life changing ordeal. After spending |
|
6 months in hospital I came back and purchased a four head embroidery machine from a disability payout. For the next two years thereafter we expanded with new machines. In 2002 Neelesh Morar, a qualified Industrial Mechanical Engineer with a university degree, joined the team. He’s responsible for production and planning of embroidery. Soon after Neelesh joined we acquired a further three machines.
We have to date successfully completed numerous embroidery contracts some for the SA army, Navy and Air force. We do work for numerous schools, sports organizations including doing work for the SA National Cricket team. We have SABS accreditation. Without any formal advertising or marketing, we have been able to secure sufficient work to run a 24 hour production for most of the year.
At the beginning of 2005 we acquired a silkscreen plant through a liquidation auction. Jiksha Gowan, who has 10 years experience in a chemical laboratory, heads this division for us. Jiksha brings into the company a CNC machine together with the latest soft-wear for embossing.
Today we are proud to say that we have a total of 50 embroidery heads a fully flagged silkscreen plant with a 4 colour automatic machine, 6 colour manual carousals and a complete exposing and frame making machine. Expansion with respect to ‘Cut, make and trim’ has been included in our operation as of Dec 2002.
As of December 2005, we have acquired state of the art Muller weaving machine used to make woven labels for the clothing/apparel arena. We thus are in a position to offer customize quality labels for the clothing industries at reasonable prices.
As evidence, we have achieved much success and growth through the hard work and dedication of our staff and employees. We have come a long way from the humble beginnings of 1994. Despite many obstacles and challenges thrown our way, we have emerged successful, which reflects our determination and strength.
Thank you |
